Join Siân Bowen, Professor of Drawing at Arts University Bournemouth, for our free Teacher CPD session providing practical demonstration for Key Stage 3 and 4 art lesson plans.

The workshop will cover how to deliver three 60-75 minute lessons exploring the power of drawing. Each lesson plan will develop students' skills and understanding of drawing with a variety of mark making techniques. Taking inspiration from artist John Ruskin, who described drawing as "dirtying paper delicately," the lessons cover traditional and contemporary drawings and the history of pencil throughout art.

Please note: This event is reserved for non-AUB staff members only.

This event is now fully booked. However, there are still spaces available on our other CPD workshop – A Drawn and Collaged Jungle CPD Workshop for Key Stage 2. Find out more about this event.

Please bring the following with you for the workshop:

  • A1 or A2 cartridge paper drawing pad
  • A pack of pencils ranging from 3H to7B.
  • One thick 3B graphite stick
  • Eraser
  • Pencil sharpener

While you're on campus, why not make the most of the opportunity to explore the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2023 at TheGallery at AUB, before or after your workshop. The exhibition will also provide practical examples of the variety of techniques used to create drawings to inspire further examples for The Extraordinary Pencil lesson planning.
