Date and time: 18 March 2026, 17.30–19.30

Location: TheGallery, AUB Campus

Join us for the formal opening of our exhibition Peter Cook: Moves On from the Beach to City and Landscape.

This exhibition traces the remarkable career of Professor Sir Peter Cook RA, exploring the intersections of imagination, experimentation, and architectural making across more than seven decades. It reflects his enduring influence, including the years connected to the Drawing Studio and Innovation Studio at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB).

The evening also celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Drawing Studio and acknowledges its Studio Patron, David Hockney, who was announced in 2016 as part of the Studio’s formal launch and opening.

As part of the celebrations, guests will have the rare opportunity to visit the Drawing Studio itself and experience its architectural splendour. The Drawing Studio is the first building of its kind to be constructed in the UK in over 100 years and represents Professor Sir Peter Cook’s first UK commission. It stands as a powerful statement of the central role of drawing within AUB’s educational philosophy and forms an integral part of the campus landscape.

The Drawing Studio was officially opened in 2016 by the late world-renowned architect, Dame Zaha Hadid, who concluded her speech with the words, “I simply love this building.”

During the evening, guests will also have the opportunity to meet and hear from Professor Sir Peter Cook, gaining unique insight into his life, work, and the ideas behind the exhibition.

Live music will accompany the event, provided by DJ R Nandez.

We look forward to welcoming you for this special celebration.

Please note: this is an open event and all are welcome – no RSVP required.
