Stepping into industry

Creating industry-ready graduates

The creative industries make up the largest sector in terms of employment in 2025, (according to Skills England). This sector encompasses a wide range of industries, including advertising, architecture, crafts, design, film, video games, performance and visual arts.

At Arts University Bournemouth (AUB), we're proud to train individuals to make their mark in that sector, with a huge community of students and alumni actively doing so, in traditional employment, as freelancers and as entrepreneurs and innovators. In fact, according to the most recent Graduate Outcomes Survey, 92% of our graduates are in employment or further education.

Your journey towards a creative career begins while you're studying at AUB. We support your development into industry-ready graduates, equipping you with the skills, experience and contacts you'll need to join the creative sector.

Engage with live briefs

At AUB, you won't only work on projects assigned by your course teams; you'll also respond to briefs set by the professionals.

Live briefs form an important part of several of our courses, offering you valuable real-world experience in working alongside third parties and external clients.

All our courses have an Industry Patron

Every course at AUB is partnered with an Industry Patron – a professional individual or organisation that'll work with you in a variety of capacities.

They could direct you in live briefs, provide unique insights in guest lectures, and pass on their wisdom and experience to enhance your learning and future skills.

Optional placement year

On most of our undergraduate courses, you have the option to take a placement year between your second and third years.

Doing a placement can be a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and experience, to strengthen the all-important CV, and even to build relationships with employers to carry forward after you graduate.

Networking opportunities

It's not only what you know... who you know helps too! At AUB, you'll have the chance to network not only with your peers across courses, but also with industry professionals.

Whether it's at specially organised course events, or part of your degree showcases in London, networking can open doors to placements, internships, freelance work and more.
