Graduation
Celebrating your achievements
We'll do our best to accommodate the accessibility and support requirements of any person wishing to attend graduation.
AUB Staff and Student Ambassadors will be on hand to help assist and direct guests around the venue. There will also be First Aiders based at the venue throughout the event.
Please let us know if you or one of your guests has an accessibility or support requirement so we can make suitable arrangements to accommodate them ahead of time. You can let us know when you register for graduation and/or book your guest ticket(s).
A member of the Graduation Team will email you directly to follow up on your request and follow up with a call if requested. You'll need to submit all accessibility and support requirements by 31 May 2024. If we don't hear from you by this time, we can't guarantee that we’ll be able to accommodate you/your guest on the day.
We have a limited number of parking spaces at the Pavilion Theatre available for Blue Badge holders. Much of the car park is flat and there are no steps to negotiate.
Please let us know in the registration form if you/your guest requires a Blue Badge reserved parking space. We'll follow up with you directly for your Blue Badge number and expiry date.
For graduands – Please be aware that there are a few steep steps to negotiate up into the Ballroom for gowning and onto the stage when your name is called and then to descend at the opposite end of the stage. There are also several stairs upon exiting the theatre onto the terraces outside after the ceremony. If this presents a problem for you, please let us know in advance so we can propose an alternative route and/or offer an escort if required.
The Pavilion Theatre is an accessible venue (read more here). Entry to the building is via a ramp and semi-automatic doors. Wheelchair access is possible to most public areas within the Pavilion. Most audience seating is located on the ground floor. There are a limited number of wheelchair spaces available. There's a lift from the ground floor down to the lower terraces exit. There's a small, reserved seating section at the front of the theatre for guests who may require assistance. Please notify us when registering any guests requiring accessibility assistance.
The Beach Marquee will host the post-ceremony reception. It's about a 15-minute walk from the Pavilion to the Marquee along the beachfront promenade (view our map for more information). The Marquee has a solid floor and ramps. It's a standing reception, although there will be some limited seating available.
Both the Pavilion Theatre and the Beach Marquee where the post-ceremony reception will take place have wheelchair accessible washroom facilities. At the Pavilion, the accessible washroom is in the main foyer on the ground floor.
Our Wellbeing team here at AUB are on hand to support you in the lead up and throughout the event. They will work closely with the graduation team to ensure the day is as stress free and enjoyable as possible. We want everyone to have a fantastic graduation experience, so if you have any concerns, need support or wish to speak to the Wellbeing team about the graduation day, then please email us and we can discuss how we can best support you.
If you require it, please follow this step-by-step guide to connecting to the hearing system at The Pavilion.
For any further assistance please speak to a member of staff at the Pavilion Theatre reception desk.
