BA (Hons) Dance

Abbie Forward

I am an aspiring dance artist with a background in ballet, modern, musical theatre and tap. I fell in love with contemporary dance for its freeing qualities and how it allows movement to be choreographed and perceived in limitless ways. It has enabled me to grow significantly as a person and a dancer, with this last year at university allowing me to explore and discover a specific interest in the collaborative creative process.

As an artist, I find the creative and experimental process fascinating, particularly how unique each individual’s responses are to any given stimuli. This is something I was able to spend time researching as part of both my dissertation and my Negotiated Project. I hope to be able to take this research into the future and use it as fuel for my own creative endeavours.

I am a curious and dedicated dancer who loves to be involved in as much as possible in any creative process. I have thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with many different artists during my time at university and hope this is also something that I can continue to explore further in my career.

Plans after degree

After graduating I plan to continue developing my skills as a dance artist and explore new and innovative ways to create work. I hope to work with a variety of people from different artistic disciplines.

During my time at university, I have also nurtured an interest in yoga and am enrolling on a course to qualify as a yoga teacher. This will allow me to pursue something I enjoy doing whilst also growing my dance artist portfolio.
