Preparing for your first week

Welcome to MA Interior Design (Online) at Arts University Bournemouth where we look forward to spending time working with and supporting you as you make great leaps forward in your learning and understanding of the creative sphere!

Induction

Welcome Week will be taking place from Monday 15 September. In this week, there'll be some online events you will be encouraged to join in. These will introduce you to how the online courses run at AUB, key contacts, and how our virtual learning environment (Canvas) works.

Your course team will let you know of any other activities linked to your course in Welcome Week.

Your first session Vice Chancellor welcome and Canvas Introduction for online students was on Tuesday 16 September from 11:30-12:15. This was recorded and will be available to you on your Student Hub.

Your first week

Even if you have studied at university before, studying online might be new to you. Your course team are there to support you in getting started with your studies. Your first unit will be an introduction to the course and the subject area. In your first week, you'll have access to online resources to begin preparing you for your first live webinar.

You should spend this time working through those materials and getting to know how Canvas works. You should ensure that you can see your introduction unit, the Student Hub, and the Course Hub on Canvas. You should also be able to see your first webinar in your Calendar on Canvas. If you can’t see all of these things, please contact your Programme Leader as soon as possible.

IT matters

To engage fully with this course, you will need to have regular access to a computer or laptop, and a reliable internet connection. You'll be able to access Microsoft Office 365 while studying with us.

Guide to Canvas

Canvas is the virtual learning environment that we use at AUB. All of your course materials and teaching will be facilitated through Canvas. It is important that you regularly access Canvas, as well as your university emails.

Please use the guide below to help you navigate Canvas.
