Become an AUB Ambassador

Outreach Ambassadors

Represent AUB as an Outreach Ambassador

Becoming an outreach ambassador for AUB means working with the Access and Participation team on events and projects that seek to make creative higher education more accessible. We celebrate the richness stemming from diverse experiences and want AUB to be a university that reflects the society it serves within its student body.

You'll support students who are from groups which are currently underrepresented in higher education, such as young people who have experience of being in care, are young carers, and/or are the first in their family to attend university.

If you’re interested in becoming and Outreach Ambassador, please email the Progression Officer to find out more about the role and how to apply.

The role of an Outreach Ambassador

As an outreach ambassador, you'll be a relatable role model for young people who may be facing a range of challenges stemming from their background or economic circumstances. You'll have the opportunity to get involved in creative workshops, the All Access AUB Summer Residential and related exhibition curation, and visits by local schools and alternative education providers, which may include delivering campus tours and taking part in student panels.

You'll work closely with the Access and Participation team on projects such as Being a Boy, All Access AUB, and more.

What we're looking for

We’re looking for students that can show, and want to develop, these key skills:

  • Reliability
  • Teamwork and leadership
  • Independence and motivation
  • Effective communication
  • Excellent organisation and problem-solving
  • Passion and enthusiasm
  • Friendliness and positivity
  • Empathy

In addition to the above, we need your individuality! We need you to share your experiences that are unique to you and provide that insight into life at AUB.

Take a look at our Outreach Ambassadors in action

Working as an outreach ambassador has been a true privilege. The role has significantly boosted my confidence and opened the door to many exciting opportunities. For instance, I was part of a team that curated a gallery exhibition. I've also had the chance to share my personal experiences as a student with prospective students considering university. The most rewarding part of this role has been seeing the people I spoke with or took on tours, become AUB students. Overall, being an outreach ambassador has been an incredibly fulfilling experience that has helped me grow both personally and professionally.
