Become an AUB Ambassador
Course Ambassadors play a key role in providing first-hand knowledge about life on student life at Arts University Bournemouth. You'll be instrumental in bringing to life your experiences on your course for our future students.
Becoming an Course Ambassador allows you to work as part of an enthusiastic team, learn valuable skills to add to your CV, and be able to take on paid work around your academic studies.
Students on Foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes can apply to become Course Ambassadors (subject to availability on your course). Course Ambassadors play a vital role in supporting their course, working closely with various teams across the University, as well as your Course Leader.
Key to this role is being able to share your experience and passion for your course with others – this means you'll be needed to help support key university events, such as our Open Days and Offer Holder Days. In addition, you'll get to work alongside our Digital Marketing team, helping with our Student Journey projects and Unibuddy platform.
Please note, if you're already a Student Ambassador, you're also able to apply for this role. If successful, you'll hold both roles.
We're looking for students that can show, and want to develop, these key skills:
In addition to the above, we need your individuality! We need you to share your experiences, which are unique to you and provide insights into life at AUB.
As a Course Ambassador, you'll have many chances to share your passion for your course with others. This may be in the form of on-campus or virtual events, off-campus events, workshops, digital projects for the website and more.
We recruit Course Ambassadors once per year in the spring. As we have a limited number of Course Ambassadors that we can employ per course, we'll review the current number employed at that time and, if your course has space available, it'll be included in the recruitment process.
When applying online, if successfully shortlisted instead of being invited to a group interview you’ll be asked to submit a selfie-style video as part of the application. The content of the video will be made clear in the application stage.
As part of becoming Course Ambassadors for AUB, there'll be several training opportunities available to you. Some will be mandatory and required as part of accepting the role; others will be optional based on your personal interests. Please note, all training will be paid.
HR will email you onboarding documents to complete, sign and return and they'll need to complete a Right to Work in the UK check. Once finalised, you'll receive a contract with further details of your employment.
It’s important you complete the onboarding documents sent to you in a timely manner.
Further information on proving your Right to Work in the UK can be found on the GOV.UK website.
If you are an international Course Ambassador, please be aware that your working hours are restricted by UK Border Agency Rules. As an international student, you are not permitted to work in excess of 20 hours per week during term time.
It is your personal responsibility to ensure you adhere to this regulation and maximum set number of 20 hours whilst employed as a Student Ambassador for AUB.
You must not accept work that takes you over this limit. Therefore, it is important you keep track of your hours worked.
There is no minimum requirement of hours you need to work per week, you can apply for jobs around your timetable and study commitments. The SA scheme is designed to be flexible, to allow you to work more when you’re perhaps quieter or have finished a hand-in and less at those times when you may have lots of projects to complete.
