Semester Study Abroad courses are for students and professionals who wish to spend time abroad, developing their creative skills and gaining credits towards their university degree, but don't necessarily want to spend 2-3 years in another country.
Costume and performance design is a diverse and demanding subject. In this course you will discover how to create whole new worlds using costume and set design for theatre, film and stage.
Depending on the term you wish to study with us, you will be introduced to a range of different fundamental theories, techniques and processes relevant to Costume and Performance Design. You will look at the context of costume within the film, television and theatre industries and will develop creative and technical approaches to costume design and interpretation.
You will investigate dramatic production that challenges contemporary, historical and cultural forms, through the integration of theory and research with practical studies. There will be opportunities to realise a costume design from 2D to 3D and apply your creative and aesthetic understanding techniques to produce a costume.
The course will develop your conceptual thinking and specialist techniques in design, construction or supervision along with fabric selection, dyeing and manipulation. You will consider emerging issues and perceptions of traditional and historical contexts, and potential developments in the framework of postmodern performance.
