The Freedom of Information Act 2005 establishes a right of access to all types of recorded information held by AUB.
As well as responding to requests for information, Arts University Bournemouth publishes information proactively. If there's information that you haven't been able to find, please email foi@aub.ac.uk with details of your request and we'll respond within the stipulated 20 working days, unless the request is covered by a legal exemption.
The University takes its obligations under the Freedom of Information Act very seriously. If, for any reason, you're dissatisfied with the way in which the process has been implemented, you may invoke the following Complaints' Procedure.
The Complaints' Procedure is split into informal and formal complaints. The University hopes to be able to resolve most complaints on an informal basis. You're asked to pursue the informal complaints' procedure before invoking the formal complaints' procedure.
Contact the Data Controller in writing at Arts University Bournemouth, Wallisdown, Poole, BH12 5HH or to dp@aub.ac.uk and they'll try to resolve the complaint informally. The Data Controller must respond to your complaint within 20 working days.
If you're dissatisfied with the outcome, or don't receive a response within 20 working days, you're entitled to invoke the formal complaints' procedure (see below).
If you're dissatisfied with the outcome of an informal complaint, you must make a formal complaint in writing, and provide supporting evidence/paperwork.
Address your written complaint to the University Secretary, Arts University Bournemouth, Wallisdown, Poole, BH12 5HH. If the complaint concerns the University Secretary, another member of the University Leadership Team will deal with it.
The University Secretary (or alternate) will investigate and respond to your complaint within 20 working days.
If you're dissatisfied with the outcome of the University’s formal complaints' procedure, you may refer the matter to the Information Commissioner at:
Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF
The University has a comprehensive risk management policy and framework, approved by the Board of Governors and overseen by the Audit and Risk Committee. All members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) take ownership of the risks associated with their area of work, with the overall risk register co-ordinated by the Chief Finance and Operations Officer to ensure consistency of approach. The Register is reviewed by each meeting of the SLT and is a standing item for meetings of the Audit and Risk Committee.
The Risk Management Policy is accompanied by a Risk Appetite Statement, approved by the Board of Governors, which articulates the University’s risk appetite against each area of business.
