Looking back over the three years of my degree course at AUB, I can see a real improvement in my technical sewing. For each new garment that I made, I was able to incorporate newly acquired skills and knowledge of historical costume whilst developing my attention to detail.
For my Final Major Project, I was proud to be a part of Noel Coward’s This Happy Breed for AUB Productions, which ran at the Palace Court Theatre in Bournemouth. I made three 1930s costumes for this production, a double-breasted men’s overcoat, a bias-cut day dress and a maternity dress. This was my first time working on a production and it was amazing to collaborate with so many different people from different disciplines. The project also gave me a chance to improve my men’s tailoring skills and broaden my experience in womenswear.
Plans after degree
I'm planning to study MA Historical Costume at AUB.
