Welcome to the MA Landscape Architecture Studies (Online) course

This welcome pack is designed to give you an idea of what to expect during the first weeks of your course. Please take the time to read it carefully and take particular note of the pre-course preparation. We hope that you'll enjoy a happy and productive time with us, and we look forward to meeting you.

Congratulations on securing a place on the MA Landscape Architecture Studies course at Arts University Bournemouth, and a warm welcome to our vibrant postgraduate community.

We're delighted that you've chosen to join a course dedicated to designing and managing beautiful, functional and sustainable landscapes that enhance both the built and natural environment, creating places that improve quality of life for people and support healthier ecosystems.

The course offers you the opportunity to explore your own interests and aspirations through a stimulating combination of critical thinking, creative design and independent research. Studying alongside students from different countries, cultures and professional backgrounds creates a rich and supportive learning environment where diverse perspectives are valued and shared.

Studying online

Teaching takes place through a combination of live online seminars, independent study, recorded learning materials and collaborative discussion. You'll work closely with tutors and fellow students throughout the course and become part of an active international learning community.

Before teaching begins, please ensure you have the following:

  • Access to a reliable internet connection
  • A computer capable of running Microsoft Teams and Adobe Creative Cloud (student licences are provided)
  • Access to a camera and microphone for seminars
  • A notebook or sketchbook for recording ideas and observations
  • Enthusiasm and curiosity

Before you join us

The Library at AUB is extremely well resourced and provides access to all of the key texts and resources you'll need throughout your studies.

Before the course begins, you may enjoy exploring some of the online resources below to gain a flavour of contemporary landscape architecture. Spend some time browsing recent projects, articles and case studies – you don't need to read everything. Simply becoming familiar with current ideas, practice and debates in the profession is a great way to begin your postgraduate journey.
