Dates: Wednesday 22 July – Friday 31 July 2026

Location: Main Gallery, Lighthouse, 21 Kingland Road, Poole

Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) is delighted to collaborate with the Lighthouse, Poole to present ELEVEN – an exhibition of work by our graduating MA Painting students as part of the University's 2026 Postgraduate Summer Shows.

Our Summer Shows celebrate the achievements of our graduating students, with the Postgraduate Summer Shows bringing the season to a close. At the Lighthouse, 11 MA Painting students will present their Final Major Projects, marking the culmination of their postgraduate study.

Now in its fifth year, MA Painting has established itself as one of the UK's leading postgraduate painting programmes, returning to exhibit at the Lighthouse in the heart of Poole to showcase the breadth and ambition of this year's graduates.

ELEVEN reflects a rich diversity of approaches, from contemporary abstraction to painterly figuration, engaging with the cultural, social, spiritual and aesthetic questions that shape our time. Together, these works affirm the continued vitality of painting as a contemporary medium, revealing new perspectives and pointing towards future directions in an ever-evolving artistic landscape.

This exhibition will take place simultaneously with WILD...LIFE by our graduating MA Fine Art students.

MA Painting at Arts University Bournemouth

MA Painting defines its practice through the particularities of the painted field – the making materiality of the unique object, a globally acknowledged cultural history and the dedicated and dynamic relationship of the painted object to the painter. Painting in the 21st Century is vital and relevant, and what it can be, do and declare is meaningful. We ask how, why and according to what means?

MA Painting explores this innovative and expansive territory in depth, dedicating itself to specialist study at postgraduate level.
