Location: Main Gallery, Lighthouse, Poole, 21 Kingland Rd

Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) is delighted to work again with Lighthouse, Poole, to feature work from our MA Painting students. The work will be exhibited as part of AUB's 2024 Postgraduate Summer Shows.

AUB’s Summer Shows are a celebration of the achievements of our 2024 graduating students, with the Postgraduate Shows ending the season. Our MA Painting students are exhibiting their final major work at Lighthouse.

Painting defines its practice through the particularities of the painted field: the making materiality of the unique object, a globally acknowledged cultural history and the dedicated and dynamic relationship of the painted object to the painter.

"The work created for this exhibition is the outcome of a dedicated programme built upon the cross-fertilisation of practical application with an understanding of contemporary painting discourse. Individual studio practice, theoretical understanding, visiting experts in the field, critiques and debate are the palette which nurtures their talents. These creatives are mapping their positions within the painted territory.

"This exhibition showcases the strength, talents, and diversity of a new and distinctive voice in Painting study."

Exhibiting artists

Claudia Lilly, Sarah Banerjee, Lisa O'Connor, Aurora-Zehra Rizvi, Willow Rose, Paula Maxwell, Meg Lewis, Xue Wang

MA Painting at Arts University Bournemouth

MA Painting defines its practice through the particularities of the painted field. The making materiality of the unique object, a globally acknowledged cultural history and the dedicated and dynamic relationship of the painted object to the painter. Painting in the 21st century is vital and relevant. Contemporary painting and what it can be, do and declare is meaningful. We ask how, why and according to what means.

The MA Painting course will explore this innovative and expansive territory in depth, dedicating itself to specialist study at postgraduate level.
