Dr Alex Blower, a social justice Research Fellow at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB), has been invited to become a MenCare Changemaker.

The invitation from Equimundo, the largest global charity engaging with issues surrounding gender equality, came in response to Dr Blower’s contribution to gender equality through the Boys’ Impact initiative.

Founded by Dr Blower in 2023, Boys' Impact is a movement dedicated to addressing the gap in educational outcomes for boys and young men who receive Free School Meals. Having faced his own challenges related to mental health and school exclusion as a young man, tackling inequality of educational opportunity is important to Dr Blower both personally and professionally.

The MenCare Changemaker Journey, a global initiative led by Equimundo in partnership with WOW, Women of the World, brings together over 100 influential leaders from across business, media, culture, civil society, governments and more.

At the heart of the initiative is the creation of a MenCare Solutions Roadmap, a practical, collective vision for change. Through this process, Changemakers expand and activate networks, share knowledge, and influence policy, practice and public perception to ensure lasting impact.

“As a Changemaker, I’ll be part of a dynamic, two-year global experience designed for collaboration, creativity, and impact. The journey will include the world’s first Global Summit on Caring Manhood in May 2026 where I’ll join one of seven action tracks, each focused on a strategic solution area. Together, we’ll co-create a MenCare Solutions Roadmap, activate global networks, and help shift policies, practices, and public narratives.

“It’s an incredible opportunity to be at the forefront of a global movement focussed on working collectively to advance health and well-being for men and boys alongside women and girls, and to address some of the most pressing challenges facing men, boys, and manhood worldwide.”
