After studying at the Royal Northern College of Music, Dougie’s performing career was prematurely cut short after a playing-related jaw condition. In 2006, Dougie became Chorus & Orchestra Director of Opera North, and is widely credited with transforming their concert and recording programme.

Dougie is passionate about raising the profile of music education, and creating opportunities for young people to learn and experience live music of all genres, having played an important role in the founding of Yorkshire Young Musicians (YMM), a charity tasked with training talented young musicians.

Dougie has worked with AUB several times, most recently when BA (Hons) Acting collaborated with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s acclaimed new musical ensemble, Kokoro, on the final year production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at The Lighthouse Theatre, Poole.
