Developing a process for small-scale biochar production. Supported by European Regional Development Funding (ERDF).
Graduate start-up Agile Planet have developed an innovative burner for producing biochar.
Biochar is a compost material made by processing waste wood in a specially-design kiln. It actively removes CO₂ from the atmosphere and has a range of benefits including improving plant growth. Agile Planet have created a new home burner that will enable anyone to create biochar in their own garden.
Connor Lascelles, founder and designer of the biochar kiln has a product design background and has been developing the pre-production prototype. Alongside co-director Lottie Hawkins, a graduate of molecular biology, the company are investing in and testing the process of small-scale biochar production with households and nursery garden centres.
Agile Planet has been awarded an AUB-ERDF Innovation Voucher and receive access to our workshop facilities for prototyping support.
