This brand-new one-day workshop introduces you to the fundamentals of designing and printing your own custom T-shirts. Discover the basics of illustration, composition and accessible print techniques.

Course information

This one-day introductory workshop offers a hands-on introduction to designing and printing your own custom T-shirt. You'll explore the basics of illustration, composition and print preparation before transferring their design onto fabric using accessible print techniques.

The workshop is ideal for beginners who are interested in illustration, graphic design, or textile printing and would like to experiment with creating wearable artwork. By the end of this one-day workshop, you'll leave with a finished bespoke printed T-shirt and the confidence to continue exploring simple print methods at home.

The course also provides a practical introduction to the kind of creative processes explored in AUB Academy’s longer short courses, making it a great starting point for anyone considering further short course bookings.

  • Generating ideas for simple graphic T-shirt designs
  • Developing a design using drawing and composition techniques
  • Preparing artwork for printing onto fabric
  • Introduction to basic print processes suitable for textiles
  • Applying your design to a T-Shirt

At the end of the course, you'll:

  • Possess a broad understanding of a variety of print processes and techniques.
  • Be able to work safely, effectively, and efficiently with professional equipment and tools.
  • Be able to demonstrate the significance of printing and have the confidence to make your ideas as physical print.
  • Possess knowledge and awareness of colour theory and how an imagery develops with various colours.

  • Possess the foundations to continue creating beyond this course

This introductory workshop is suitable for complete beginners, or those with some previous knowledge who wish to improve their understanding.

None – this is an introductory course. We have no formal academic entry requirements for our short courses.
