Careers and Employability

The Careers and Employability Service is dedicated to supporting you in turning your creativity into a great career.

Recruiters are looking to employ graduates with the right skills, personal attributes and industry experience that will make them great assets to their organisations. This is why course teams ensure employability is embedded in your curriculum, and why we provide quality information and guidance to help you stand out and prepare you to embark on your professional future.

We also have a dedicated careers platform (AUB AdvantageCareer Hub) for students and alumni with careers resources, job opportunities and events. Students are also able to book an appointment with a Careers Coach.

Working in the Creative Industry

There’s never been a better time to work in the creative industries:

  • The value of the creative industries to the UK is up from £94.8 billion in 2016 to £101.5 billion in 2019
  • The creative industries have grown at nearly twice the rate of the economy since 2010
  • There are currently more than 2 million (2,040,000) jobs in the creative industries and creative jobs have increased by 30.6% since 2011
  • 1 in 11 jobs** are now in the creative economy

In an economy where it’s hard to predict the jobs our new students will be moving into in the future, it’s great to know that many creative jobs are future-proof jobs – 87% of creative jobs are at low or no risk of automation.
