From starting my time at AUB with little confidence in technical sewing to creating tailored and fully functional historical garments I feel proud of my journey of my three years studying here.
My love for costume has only grown over these years and my excitement to move forward into industry has flourished. Over this past academic year I had the opportunity to work on an AUB productions show as a maker. This is where I learnt to work under a strict deadline and to meet the needs of the designer and actor through alterations and decorations.
My final project of the year was making a 1620-inspired dress for the costume store. Through this project I was able to explore creatively, I made use of my resources and learnt how to laser cut lace for this project, guiding my making through research. I have also been able to expand my skills through helping on shows at my time here, doing alterations, making, and dressing for both AUB productions and a local theatre.
Plans after degree
My making and supervision skills have developed greatly at my time at AUB, and I look forward to applying them in future roles, hopefully in film or television.
