Open Day FAQs

Below are a number of questions frequently asked by visitors planning to attend our Open Days.

Yes, you do need to book to attend our online and on campus Open Days. Bookings can be made online using the links above in our ‘Open Day dates’ section.

The day starts at 09.00 and ends at 15.00. Breakfast and lunch options are available at various hospitality points across campus.

You don’t need to attend all day – you’re welcome to arrive and leave when you wish. We repeat the majority of course talks (at 10.10, 11.30 and 12.50) and informative talks throughout the day, allowing you to build the day around your requirements. We have many activities and tours to get involved with during the event, so if you wish to make the most of these, we recommend arriving at 09.00 and staying for the length of the event.

Please note: a few specific courses only host one talk that isn’t repeated – this will be easily identifiable when you make a booking. Please make a note of this when booking and be aware if you choose one of these talks.

The day runs from 09.00-15.00, and there's lots to do. Our course talks are repeated three times (10.10, 11.30 and 12.50) throughout the day, you'll meet course leaders and have your questions answered, learn more about practical details such as entry requirements and funding options, chat with student ambassadors, tour the campus, check out our halls of residence, and maybe even try your hand at a creative activity or two.

Once you've booked on to an Open Day, make sure to check your emails for your ticket and further information. If you'd like to get ahead with planning, you can download the Open Day guide in advance.

You can cancel/amend via links in the booking confirmation email.

You're more than welcome to bring along extra family members and friends but for busier talks we may ask that only one student and one guest attend. There are lots of other activities and hospitality points across campus for additional guests to enjoy.

Dogs are also welcome to join you on campus, however, they won't be able to accompany you to the talks. Please ensure they're kept on a short lead and with the owner at all times.

Please email opendays@aub.ac.uk to make any access arrangements (e.g. blue badge parking, a sign language interpreter, audio loops or any other support or assistance). Together, with our Senior Disability Advisor, we'll provide advice and support for the day.

Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) is a single campus University based in Poole, Dorset (BH12 5HH).

We've put together a handy guide with directions on how to find us, including what buses to take and our nearest train station if you're taking public transport. It's worth noting that we're next door to Bournemouth University, so you might like to use our what3words code (what3words: ///claims.fetch.driver) to find our entrance.

We have limited car parking on campus. Once this car park is full, we have an overflow car park around the corner, just a short five-minute walk to ensure we can accommodate all our visitors. Please always arrive at the main AUB entrance, as our security team will be on hand to help direct you on arrival.

Please email opendays@aub.ac.uk to reserve a parking space on campus.

Absolutely! We have a great group of student ambassadors representing various courses – they'll be pleased to have a chat with you on the day and share their experiences as AUB students.

Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) is a completely separate university to Bournemouth University (BU). That said, the AUB campus is located directly next to BU.

On arrival, you’ll see the BU campus first, and the AUB campus just behind this – please follow the AA signs and other road signs on arrival to direct you.

Yes, although capacities in some rooms can be limited, so entry is on a first-come first-served basis. For particularly busy talks, we may limit entry to one student and one guest just to make sure as many people as possible can attend.

Our general Open Days cover our Foundation course and our BA (Hons) degree programmes. We have a specific Open Day for Master's and PhD/Research courses. All dates can be found in the ‘Open Day dates’ section on this page.

We’ll give you a printed programme of the day on arrival when you come to the registration point.

We’ll send an email with the joining information the day before the event. Please check your junk/spam folder and if it can’t be found please contact us on opendays@aub.ac.uk.

The Open Day Hub is for all our levels – Foundation, Undergraduate (BA) and Postgraduate (MA).

Dogs are welcome to join you on campus, however, they won't be able to accompany you to the talks. Please ensure they're kept on a short lead and with the owner at all times.

If we spot a dog, our Social Media team will likely come and ask your dog for an interview.

Eat, drink, shop, or just enjoy Bournemouth's famous expanse of beaches. Or explore the neighbouring towns of Poole and Christchurch, or even further beyond. There's so much to do.

Not sure where to begin? We've put together a little list of ideas.

Other events

If you can't make an Open Day, pop along to one of our campus tours, which run on Fridays, unless stated otherwise. These tours allow you to explore our creative campus and its general facilities with one of our student ambassadors, so that you can get a feel for the AUB vibe.

However, as campus tours run on teaching days, they won't allow you access into individual studios, halls of residence, or to speak to academic teams. To do this, book onto one of our Open Days, which'll offer you the complete experience of visiting AUB.

Once you've applied and received an offer, you'll get the chance to explore the campus on an offer holder day. These events are invite-only and give you an opportunity to meet prospective course teams, your future classmates and take part in group activities.

We also offer an online alternative if you can't make it to campus – you'll still get the chance to talk to staff and current students with others starting the course.

We attend UCAS events throughout the year and we’d love to see you.

To find out where we’ll be and when, see our UCAS Events page. You can register for UCAS events online on the UCAS website.

We know that not everyone can make it to an Open Day, so we've created a virtual hub that brings together all the information you need to know, whenever you need it.
