Arts University Bournemouth (AUB)’s School of Arts, Media and Creative Industries Management has partnered with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to offer students a dual accreditation across all of its undergraduate courses.

A CMI dual accreditation means that the degree course has been certified by the CMI to align with its professional qualifications and standards.

This enables the students to graduate with both a university degree and a CMI foundation Chartered Manager status (fCMgr) upon completion, without undertaking additional coursework, exams or costs.

According to CMI’s research, 89% of their partners say that Chartered Manager status boosts students’ career prospects and employability into professional roles.

“CMI qualifications are highly valued by employers, and are now embedded within all the school’s degree courses," explains Jennifer Anyan, Dean of the School of Arts, Media and Creative Industries Management.

"This ensures that our students graduate with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed for a successful career in the arts, because they have both the creative knowledge for their field and the business acumen.”

Benefits of CMI dual accreditation include:

  • Dual qualification: Graduates receive a university degree and a professional CMI a Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership qualification simultaneously.
  • Enhanced employability: Employers highly value CMI-accredited qualifications, which boost a graduate's prospects and make them more competitive in the job market.
  • Pathway to Chartered Manager status: Students on dual-accredited courses are automatically given Foundation Chartered Manager (fCMgr) status and are placed on a clear path to achieving full Chartered Manager status.
  • Access to professional resources: Enrolling in a dual-accredited course provides access to CMI membership benefits, including resources like the Career Development Centre, the Management Direct online portal, and networking opportunities.
  • Work-ready skills: The accreditation ensures that the degree course is designed with industry in mind, helping to develop the work-ready skills and leadership capabilities that employers are looking for.

Jennifer adds, “Mapping our BA and BSc degrees to CMI criteria means our standards in management and leadership education are every bit as rigorous as our standards in creative practice, the hallmark of an AUB degree.”

The CMI dual accreditation applies to the following AUB courses: BA (Hons) Communication Design and Strategy; BA (Hons) Content Creation with Marketing; BA (Hons) Creative Direction; BSc (Hons) Fashion Management and Strategy; and BA (Hons) Media, Marketing and Advertising.
