Newly elected Labour MP for Bournemouth West Jessica Toale visited Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) to meet Acting Vice-Chancellor Lisa Mann, and Stephen Harvey, Executive Director of Operations and Planning.
Jessica toured the campus on Thursday 29 August, visiting the Postgraduate Summer Shows, which are currently exhibiting on campus until Saturday 21 September.
She commented, “It was a pleasure to meet the talented team at Arts University Bournemouth and hear about the many contributions they’re making to our town.
“Anyone who has visited Bournemouth’s town centre will have undoubtedly witnessed the vibrant, creative spirit that AUB brings to our community. As the MP for Bournemouth West, I am committed to revitalising Bournemouth as a thriving, unique destination, with a strong emphasis on the arts.
“One of my key ambitions is to reinforce Bournemouth’s identity as a premier destination for the arts. The work being done at AUB is central to this vision, and I look forward to collaborating with the university to further support and promote their creative projects.”
“It was a pleasure to meet Jessica and to show her around AUB," says Lisa. "We’re celebrating lots of firsts here this year and are committed to innovating and making art accessible to everyone. From our AUB Academy offering everything from Saturday classes to short courses, through to our Foundation courses, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, AUB is the hub for creative interests, enterprise, and careers.
“We’re looking forward to working closely with Jessica over the coming years with a focus on retaining talent here in Bournemouth by improving environments for creatives to thrive.”
