A Bournemouth-based artist and tutor at Arts University Bournemouth’s AUB Academy is celebrating a double success this summer after having her work selected for a local museum exhibition and shortlisted for a national art prize.
Laura Wyatt, a Visiting Tutor who teaches the Painting – Colour and Expressionism course at AUB Academy, has had her painting, Plummet, selected by the Red House Museum in Christchurch.
The piece is on display as part of a summer exhibition running until 6 September 2026.
In addition to her museum selection, Laura has achieved national recognition, having had four of her paintings selected from around 2,000 entries and shortlisted for the SAA Artists of the Year Awards 2026.
Originally founded in 1992 as the Society for All Artists and now known as Supporting All Artists (SAA), the SAA is the UK's largest art community, boasting over 30,000 members.
“I’m delighted to share these exciting opportunities," Laura says. "Having Plummet selected by the Red House Museum for the summer is a wonderful highlight, I am chuffed to bits! The exhibition is curated by a fabulous team in a beautiful gallery space and to have four of my pieces shortlisted by the SAA from thousands of national entries is marvellous.”
The public has the opportunity to support the local artist, with the SAA Artists of the Year 'People's Vote' now officially open. They can vote for Laura’s work online, with a voting deadline of Monday 17 August 2026.
The overall winner will be revealed during a Private View event at the upcoming London exhibition.
