AUB Academy has hosted its first tailored Creative Away Day, marking a key milestone in its expansion into bespoke corporate learning and regional business partnerships.

Held on campus at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB), the immersive session brought together team members from local fintech company Twenty7tec to address modern workplace challenges including workload planning, cross-departmental communication, and team motivation through hands-on, creative methodology.

Led by BA (Hons) Fashion Communication Course Leader Corinna Budnarowska, the day utilised a Double Diamond design framework combining hands-on printmaking with Printroom Technician Demonstrator, Donna Peters, alongside creative writing workshops led by BA (Hons) Creative Writing Course Leader James Cole.

Participants used conceptual storytelling and mono-printing to explore departmental priorities, map out collaborative solutions, and build long-term operational commitments.

The initiative reflects AUB Academy’s evolving focus on aligning creative practice with commercial sector needs, supporting the AUB’s Strategy 2030+ vision to broaden access and foster opportunity across the region.

“We’re thrilled to have launched our Creative Away Days with Twenty7tec," says Rob Hill, Head of AUB Academy.

"AUB Academy is increasingly leaning into the business sector, demonstrating how creative problem-solving and hands-on artistic techniques can directly unlock corporate challenges like communication and departmental alignment.

“By combining specialist creative facilitation with practical workplace dynamics, we are helping regional businesses think differently, innovate faster, and build stronger internal connections. This partnership represents a key step forward as part of our Strategy 2030+ commitments to support local enterprise and expand our bespoke offer.”

The full-day event included dedicated facility access, live graphic recording, professional photography, and gallery reflection spaces.

Ellisha-Jade, Social Media, PR and Events Manager at Twenty7tec, says, “It was fantastic to partner with Arts University Bournemouth and do something completely different for a day.

"Our teams spend so much of their time in the world of technology, finance and data, so having the opportunity to step away from usual routines and inject some creativity into the way we think, and work together was really refreshing.”

Gianluca Di Marco, Talent Development Manager at Twenty7tec, adds, “AUB facilitated a great day with initiatives that helped us think outside the box about our business challenges and provided us with great insights that would have been otherwise missed in the routine of our office.”

AUB Academy will continue to roll out tailored away days and executive creative training for organisations across the South West.
