Dates: 19 October – 4 December 2026

Location: University House, AUB Campus

Now in its sixth year, the All Access AUB programme welcomed a group of Year 12/Level 3 Year 1 students over the summer, giving them the opportunity to experience life as an Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) student and explore what it’s like to study a creative course at the University.

Throughout the programme, students took part in a diverse range of Art and Design or Dance workshops, where they were encouraged by AUB tutors to experiment, develop new skills, and build their creative portfolios.

This exhibition showcases the experimental work created by the All Access AUB students, celebrating their creativity, curiosity and willingness to explore new ideas.

Responding to the theme of Me, Myself and I, students developed personal interpretations as they discovered their own creative journeys through a variety of materials, processes, and imaginative approaches. The resulting work reflects the high quality of their engagement, commitment, and artistic development.

The exhibition stands as a powerful reflection of the values at the heart of AUB’s culture – Creative Excellence, Future Skills, and Research and Enterprise through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and public engagement. It also celebrates the important work of the Access and Participation team in supporting young people from groups currently underrepresented in higher education, helping them to realise their creative potential and aspirations.

You can view the full Identity, Time and Space exhibition online as well as the World in Motion exhibition from 2024.

Partnerships and collaboration at AUB

All those with the potential to benefit from higher education, no matter their background, deserve the opportunity to do so. At AUB, we're committed to making that happen, which is why All Access AUB was developed.

It's a unique and intensive programme of activity for post-16 students from underrepresented groups, specifically designed to support entry to creative higher education. Students enrolled on the scheme take part in a summer residential, have their work included in an industry-standard exhibition, receive one-to-one portfolio support from AUB tutors, and attend a Transition to Creative Higher Education event. The exhibition is a chance to reflect on and celebrate the achievements of the young people so far.

All Access AUB Summer Residential

The All Access AUB participants were invited to attend a four-day and three-night summer residential on AUB Campus, residing in our Campus Halls.

Participants either chose to study an Art and Design or Film pathway, engaging in a wide variety of creative workshops to boost their artistic confidence, build new creative skills. and create a piece for the Identity, Time and Space exhibition.

TheGallery is a nationally and internationally recognised, award-winning space. Throughout the year, it hosts a wide range of exhibitions, events, and projects in collaboration with AUB stakeholders across the University. These initiatives provide students and staff with opportunities to showcase their courses, practices, and creative work.

Serving as a national and international public platform for the arts within the region, TheGallery promotes the University’s shared commitment to excellence in education, industry, and the wider sector. It embodies AUB’s promise to foster civic and cultural engagement, making a positive impact while ensuring that both education and the arts remain accessible to all.

The All Access AUB Exhibition: Me, Myself and I is a further example of these collaborative projects and partnerships. Developed through a close collaboration between TheGallery and Access and Participation, the project brings together expertise from across the University. TheGallery team has led on curating and exhibition design, while also supporting the process through mentorship. Acting as both mentor and creative guide, The Gallery curator has worked alongside Access and Participation colleagues and students, encouraging professional development, creative exploration, and new ways of thinking about exhibition-making.

At AUB, we believe that all those with the potential to benefit from higher education, no matter their background, deserve the opportunity to do so and we’re committed to making that happen.

We work closely with schools and colleges to provide an extensive programme of outreach activities with groups who are currently underrepresented in higher education.

The Access and Participation team provides a range of activity for students from underrepresented backgrounds, including the Being a Boy project and All Access AUB programme.

Outreach Ambassadors are students typically from underrepresented backgrounds who are employed as ambassadors, providing them with opportunities to develop skills and experiences that'll have a significant impact on their employability upon graduation. They support the Access and Participation department on projects like assisting with workshops with local schools, community groups and third sector organisations and provide positive, relatable role models for other young people from underrepresented backgrounds.

Outreach Ambassadors supported the teaching delivery and evening activities of the All Access AUB Summer Residential, with three contributing to the realisation of the exhibition.
