About this course

In this inspiring workshop, your young artist will explore the art of bookmaking by modifying and altering traditional books to reflect their unique identities and stories. Using a variety of materials and techniques, they'll craft intricate, mini-book universes that can include personal objects, pop-up mechanics, and innovative layouts, fostering creativity, storytelling and craft skills.

This artist’s book workshop combines art, storytelling, and bookbinding to produce a collection of meaningful, personalised books. Students will experiment with collage, printing techniques, and creative page layouts to develop a series of mini-books that reveal their inner stories and hidden messages.

  • Basic bookbinding and binding alternative methods
  • Idea generation and storytelling through visual pages
  • Creative page layouts and pop-up paper mechanics
  • Techniques for collage, printing, and mixed media applications
  • How to incorporate personal objects and hidden messages into their books

Participants will have created a collection of unique artist’s books, each reflecting their personal stories or hidden messages.

They'll leave with new skills in bookbinding, media experimentation and storytelling, plus a physical portfolio of their miniature artistic worlds to cherish and share!
