Adobe Premiere Pro is a powerful, industry-standard editing tool used by filmmakers, content creators and editors to bring together video, audio and still imagery into polished, professional work. This introductory course is designed to give you a confident and practical foundation in film editing, helping you understand not just how to use the software, but why editors make the choices they do.

Course information
You’ll be guided through the core features of Adobe Premiere Pro, learning how to edit clips and sequences, work confidently within the timeline, add and manipulate effects and transitions, manage audio tracks, and export your finished projects into a range of professional formats.
Through a series of engaging, tutor-led projects and workshops, you’ll learn how to start and organise a new project, manage media efficiently, apply editing tools, work with colour correction and grading, add titles and motion effects, and refine your edits to a professional standard.
Whether you’re passionate about film, keen to develop editing skills for creative projects, or looking to build confidence with industry software, this course will provide you with essential technical knowledge, best practice workflows and the confidence to begin editing your own film projects.
Each session focuses on a specific area of the software and includes demonstrations, examples and a practical mini-brief, allowing you to immediately apply what you’ve learned. By the end of the course, you’ll be working faster, more efficiently and with the confidence to manage larger and more complex projects.
- Understanding Adobe Premiere Pro workspaces, including editing and effects
- Non-linear editing within the timeline
- Colour correction and grading, including working with LUTs
- Transitions and special effects
- Titles, text and basic animations
- In-app audio correction and mixing
- Exporting projects and understanding codecs
At the end of the course you'll:
- Understand the main editing tools and best-practice principles for film
- Have built confidence to work independently across all taught areas
- You'll have a comprehensive overview, understanding and hands-on experience working with Adobe Premiere Pro.

Will I be assessed?
No, there's no formal assessment. As the course progresses your tutor will measure your overall performance and offer essential guidance and feedback, so you know how you're getting on.

Suitable for adults aged 18+.
Level
Beginners or anyone with some experience who want to refresh or develop their skills further.
Experience or qualifications required
None – this is an introductory course. We have no formal academic entry requirements for our short courses.

You’ll need to provide your own 64 GB USB flash drive. This’ll incur an additional cost if you need to purchase one for the course. Please refer to the “What to bring to class” section below for full details.
Access to a computer with Adobe Premiere Pro is strongly recommended, so you can practise between sessions and continue developing your skills
