In my final year at university, I have been fortunate enough to work on external shows, first over the summer and during first term I worked on Oxford Playhouse's 2024 Pantomime Sleeping Beauty, making a suit for the Fairy Mark-O, and then making the walkdown dress for Nelly the Nurse.
After Christmas, I was assigned to work on Hurn Court Opera’s Production of La Cenerentola, a version of Cinderella, making the costume for the character Clorinda, one of the Stepsisters, which involved making and 1810s ballgown, 1820 corset, chemise and petticoat. Both of these projects were on an accelerated deadline, which meant I had to hone my time management skills and learn how to prioritise and manage my schedule to research, draft, make and decorate my costumes in the given timeframe, with limited or no access to the person being made for.
