BA (Hons) Costume

Fay Wilde

Over the three years of studying costume, I developed my making skills and during my third year at AUB, I specialised in supervision, working on live productions and a speculative project. I honed my skills in management, buying, hiring, and alteration. As well as this, I was able to work alongside talented designers and makers.

For the first show of the year, I was Assistant Supervisor for AUB Productions' Emilia!, working alongside my fellow supervisors in managing a team of makers. This show was almost fully made, so my main role was supporting my Head Supervisor, supplying makers with materials, setting up fittings and working with the actors. I enjoyed this project as it was a challenge in a controlled environment, setting me up for what it would be like in the industry, with the space to fail and grow from my mistakes.

For my last project, I did a speculative bible for Mother Goose. For this project, I worked on developing my budgeting and sourcing skills. I enjoyed this project as I feel it allowed me full creative freedom. This project also allowed me to round out my supervision skills, previously missed from other projects.

Plans after degree

Following graduation, I plan to stay in Bournemouth developing my making and supervision skills. As well as this, I plan to work, upkeep my making skills and possibly start commissions.
