For the second year, our BA (Hons) Fashion and BA (Hons) Textiles Design courses celebrate Fashion Revolution Week and Earth Day 2026 with Trash to Treasure II: a celebration of sustainable fashion and compassion.

This was a collaborative project and live brief working with Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, supported by TheGallery and in partnership with AUB Honorary Fellow Mary Mullin.

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care charity shops provided our students with donated interior fabrics otherwise destined for landfill. This year, the Lewis-Manning Team requested a LGBTQ+ focus, and that we worked with rainbow colours to showcase acceptance and celebration of all people. This felt very appropriate as, in 2026, AUB was officially ranked as having the highest percentage of queer students in the UK.

Working in small groups and across courses, students transformed donated materials into stunning textiles pieces, which in turn inspired a series of garments and accessories. Designed to reflect the fashion of today, our students gave the old fabrics a lease of new life and transformed them into ready to wear pieces.

The uplifting collection showcases the power of design to make a meaningful difference. Each item on display tells a story of upcycling, conscious construction, sustainability, innovation and passion, offering a glimpse into the future of fashion and thoughtful collaboration.

Last year's collaboration with Lewis-Manning Hospice Care raised more than £10,000, from its first sustainable fashion show hosted at the Porsche Centre in Ferndown on 25 September 2025.

All works on display will be featured and auctioned in a Lewis-Manning Hospice Care charity fashion show later this year. The funds raised enabled the charity to provide over 550 hours of free support to patients in Dorset.

By viewing this exhibition at AUB, you support a cause close to our hearts: helping Lewis-Manning Hospice Care continue its work in providing vital care to those in need within our community. Together, we're not just showcasing the future of fashion; we're making a difference to the lives of many and making a clear statement that everybody is welcome here.

Thank you for joining us in this celebration of style, sustainability, and social good. We are Fashion Revolution!

On 18 September 2025, the Trash to Treasure fashion show showcased sustainable creativity with AUB partnering with Lewis-Manning Hospice Care to transform recycled materials into striking designs. Held at the Porsche Centre in Ferndown, the event celebrated innovation, style and a meaningful cause.
