An exhibition bringing together artists from London and Los Angeles in London’s Thames-Side Studio Gallery includes work from Sam Jackson, Senior Lecturer on the MA Painting course at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB).
Running from 17–31 January, Resolution is a collection of work from artists who "trace the fault lines of process, where experimentation, uncertainty, and even failure become not obstacles but raw material for transformation and a metaphor for wider struggles."
Sam is exhibiting the oil-on-board painting So It Goes, which "seeks to act as a conduit for emotional and painterly connections, the figure acting as a cypher for sub-conscious and text-based scrawlings and interruptions become both powerful and embodied.
"An emblem for a forgotten and future time, that utilises quotes and lyrics from film, literature and music. The title derived from the classic Kurt Vonnegut 1969 novel Slaughter House Five, wherein the quote is used 106 times in mention to death and tragedy, a timely reminder of our current world situation.
"These words and symbols, the painted mark, drips and brushwork hint at fragility, a dark humour, memory, and the universal language of painting that both bond us together."
Resolution will take place at Thames-Side Studio Gallery in London from 17–31 January, with an opening reception event on Friday 16 January.
