AUB has the joint highest graduate employment rate of any English University, achieving the rate of 98% employability in the Survey, which reviews the destination of graduates six months after they have left the institution.
Of the 98%, an 80% proportion are in professional graduate employment, the highest percentage AUB has achieved to date.
The results of the survey, issued last week, place Arts University Bournemouth joint second in the UK and first in England alongside Harper Adams University, excluding colleges.
BA (Hons) Modelmaking graduates achieved 100% employment, 96% of which were within the creative industries. Graduate destinations included Aardman Animations and Foster + Partners.
BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design graduates went on to work for companies such as Cirque du Soleil, Scottish Opera, Italia Conti and Den Norske Opera og Ballett; BA (Hons) Textiles graduates were employed by Louis Vuitton and Cimone and BA (Hons) Make-up for Media and Performance graduates went on to work for Warner Bros.
In the recent Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), a new scheme for recognising excellent teaching, AUB was awarded Gold status. The Times Higher Education produced a TEF Metrics ranking which placed AUB 13th in the UK and 5th for employability.
Welcoming the latest figures, Professor Emma Hunt, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of AUB, said:
“As a leading arts university for the creative industries we pride ourselves on turning creativity into careers. We help our graduates achieve their ambitions by encouraging a collaborative, maker culture where students are inspired, engaged and achieve.
“The strength of our teaching, combined with our stunning state-of-the-art campus and facilities, provide the creative, enabling learning environment that prepares students for employment in the creative industries.”
The £87 billion creative industries are growing at a faster rate than the whole UK economy, accounting for 1 in 11 jobs.
