Using 3D printing to create immersive experiences in digitally augmented spaces. Supported by European Regional Development Funding (ERDF).
Suidsoup is a UK-based international group of artists, researchers, technologists and designers working with digital and interactive media experiences. Their work combines physical and dynamic digital spaces with novel and intuitive forms of interaction to produce immersive, responsive and beguiling experiences.
In 2018, Squidsoup were awarded an Access Voucher to use our SLS 3D printing facility to develop a series of electronic device casings. The devices formed part of an experimental series of immersive events that saw the product, ‘Wave‘, a 500 part voice and light experience in the form of a dynamic, sculptural wave, installed at various locations across the UK. The second iteration ‘Desert Wave’ (see header image) was selected as part of the Black Rock City Arts Honoraria, and installed at the Burning Man festival in 2019.
This project is supported through match-funding by the England European Regional Development Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020. This fund was established by the European Union to help local areas stimulate their economic development. This investment will help to support innovation, businesses, skills and employment to improve local growth and create jobs. For more information visit www.gov.uk/european-growth-funding.
