Course information
This course is ideal for those who have completed Silversmithing Jewellery Workshop (Stage 2) or who have significant experience and are ready to work more independently while receiving expert guidance.
The Stage 3 course places emphasis on personal projects, allowing you to design, develop and realise your own jewellery ideas while continuing to enhance technical proficiency. With support from your tutor, you’ll identify areas of skill development to focus on, whether refining soldering techniques, improving stone setting, exploring surface finishes, or developing more complex constructions.
The course offers a studio-based environment where you can work at a deeper, more sustained pace. Tutor demonstrations, one-to-one guidance and group discussion will support your individual aims, while allowing flexibility for varied projects and creative directions.
This course encourages thoughtful decision-making, problem-solving and experimentation, helping you develop confidence not just in technique, but in your own creative voice as a jeweller. It also supports those considering progressing towards independent practice or further study.

At the end of the course:
- You'll have a comprehensive overview, understanding and hands-on practical experience working with silver.
You can request a certificate to confirm your achievements, providing you've a 100% attendance record. To request a certificate please get in touch with us at academy@aub.ac.uk and confirm your name and the title of course you've completed.
Will I be assessed?
No, there's no formal assessment. As the course progresses your tutor will measure your overall performance and offer essential guidance and feedback, so you know how you're getting on.
What you need to know
Summer term 2027
Saturday 10 and 24 April; 8 and 22 May; 5 June 2027 (5 alternating Saturdays, 09.00–16.00)
Age
Suitable for adults aged 18+.
Level
This is an advanced course and is suitable for students who have completed Silversmithing Jewellery Workshop (Stage 2) or who possess equivalent experience and confidence in jewellery making.
Experience or qualifications required
Some experience is required as this is an advanced course. We have no formal academic entry requirements for our short courses.

Any additional costs
You'll be responsible for purchasing your own materials, including silver. Guidance on suppliers will be provided, and projects can be planned to suit individual budgets.

- Glasses for close-up work (if required) and a hairband for long hair
