Course information

You’ll revisit and strengthen core silversmithing techniques while advancing your practical abilities through concise, carefully designed projects.

These sessions will expand your confidence in soldering, annealing, texturing, piercing, sawing and design, allowing you to work with greater accuracy, intention and independence.

Each session follows a supportive and structured format. The day begins with a short recap and demonstration of key techniques, followed by a practical project in the second half of the session. This approach allows you to immediately apply learning through hands-on making in a relaxed studio environment, under the close guidance of your experienced tutor, Yvette Cannon.

You’ll work with professional tools including the piercing saw, hammers, pliers, blowtorch and polishing machine, renewing your understanding of good workshop practice and health and safety through a clear induction.

One of the advantages of working in silver is its accessibility outside the studio. You’ll be encouraged to continue practising between sessions using a small, manageable set of tools, supporting steady skill development throughout the course.

Each workshop focuses on a specific area of making, supported by examples and tutor-led demonstrations, followed by a practical mini-brief designed to strengthen both your technical skills and creative confidence.
