Yiwen Zhang is an artist and illustrator from China. Her passion lies in capturing the warm, vivid moments of everyday life, inspired by her personal experiences, nature, and animals. She works with watercolour mixed with soft pastels and other materials, while adding her distinctive sense of humour. She is adept at portraying not only the dynamism of the city, but also the tranquility of nature. Her paintings convey a warm lifestyle that brings joy and a sense of healing to others.

For her MA graduate project, she created a set of zine teabags, inspired by her love for tea and coffee. Featuring her character IP, Flat Pink, which was developed during her studies.

The set contains six zines that diary-style document Flat Pink's life in the UK, filled with whimsical stories and the many friends she met along her travels.

Her watercolour collection, 6PM in Brighton, was exhibited in Brighton in June 2026. The series reads like a personal visual journal, evoking all the charms of this coastal town.

First, I am going back to China because I have two cats there who I miss very much! 

But my big vision is to set up my own art organisation back home. There are so many exceptionally talented, professionally trained artists in China, but they often lack a platform to show their work or connect with the wider international art community. I want to build that bridge. I’ve been making as many connections as possible with my brilliant peers at AUB, and my hope is to invite them to China as guest hosts for creative workshops in the future.
