My name is Tianxing Guo (Brian), and I am an artist from China.
My work is a picture book dedicated to marine conservation; it was inspired by sea turtles harmed after ingesting marine debris and by the massive "garbage islands" formed by the accumulation of waste in the ocean.
In this book, the ocean, which should be a home for sea turtles, is instead filled with discarded trash. As a sea turtle searches for the way home, it mistakes a discarded fishing net for edible seaweed and a floating plastic bag for a jellyfish. Through this gentle yet impactful medium, I hope even the youngest readers can sense the helplessness of marine life. Waste casually discarded by humans often proves fatal to these creatures.
This picture book is not merely a story for children; I also hope it inspires adults. Reducing the use of single-use plastics and avoiding littering can offer a vital lifeline to the creatures of the natural world.
Plans after degree
I would still like to work in an art-related field.
