BA (Hons) Animation Production

Suzani Rai

I want to express my love for fun concepts through character designs. Thanks to the course, I was able to create characters in different styles and explore multiple methods to convey a story I want to share with the world!

My main body of work shown is pre-production work for a third-year film I am a co-director on, named Girls Fart Too! – a lighthearted, short animated film that was derived from the joke/stigma that girls don't fart or do gross things, setting a standard for women. Through this film, we want to show and normalise that women, regardless of status or age, do gross things. My other works are concepts for ideas I had throughout this course.

Plans after degree

I don't have a set plan, but I would like to go into TV animation and, in the far future, work to create a feature film. I would also like to start a amall art business too!

Collaboration

Girls Fart Too! is a collaborative film project with the main team consisting of me and seven other members: Maria Sanchez, who is also a co-director focusing on environment in the film, whilst I oversee the animation during production; Elisa Morris-Tse as our producer and animator; Rachel Davy as lead character designer and animator; Lucy Muir as an animator and story artist; Ruby Porter as an animator and character designer; Alex Moreno and Lily McKenzie, who also work on the environment design! With help from Level 5 students as well.
