I entered the world of dance from the age of three and began my training in musical theatre. From there, I developed a love for all things performance which led me to train in a variety of other styles, including ballet, tap, modern, street, commercial and contemporary. Some of my favourite memories include performing in shows – both big and small – as these expanded my view on what dance could be and they really influenced my decision to pursue this as a career.
Studying this degree has brought me so many opportunities that I will forever be grateful for. From choreographing, to teaching and performing, it has really allowed me to explore all aspects of the art. I have found a love for leading sessions, both as a teacher and a choreographer, something I have explored in my final project which enabled me to do both. I truly believe in dance being accessible to all and hope to open more doors for opportunities throughout my career.
Plans after degree
I have always been fond of the stage so I hope to pursue performance as a professional career. In addition to this, I would like to expand my skills and knowledge on teaching, and later hope to gain a PGCE in dance.
I feel strongly about sharing my skill set with younger generations, particularly those who have less access to dance classes and it feels important to ensure accessibility to this creative art is granted for all.
