The Absurdities of War
I am interested in the politics of imagery related to truth, conflict and image manipulation.
The Absurdities of War is a conceptual critique of global conflict. I really want viewers to focus on the word "absurd", highlighting the senselessness, irrationality, and chaos of wars and the global leaders who perpetuate them to stay in power. It is an analogue collage made of cut-and-pasted second-hand print materials. The collage was then photographed and digitally printed as a fabric tapestry.
My artistic practice focuses on the creation and development of imagery. I re-contextualise existing imagery found in online and print material through collage. Currently, my main focus is analogue collage where I precisely cut and paste to create new 'worlds'. My artworks often get remediated into new works after digitisation processes, such as digital reprints, printmaking (e.g. silkscreen printing), book binding and digital fabric printing.
Plans after degree
After my degree, I am hoping to complete a Primary PGCE at a London university while continuing to create collages and artworks in my spare time.
