I am an Illustrator from India and I particularly enjoy making illustrations and animation for music.

Though I have worked in different roles over the last few years (from photography and video editing intern to hand embroidery artist to graphic designer), I was always drawn to illustration and took every opportunity that came my way, especially making cover art for songs, and so I finally decided to do my MA in Illustration.

I love drawing everything from people to food, but my recent work takes a lot of inspiration from nature. I enjoy making work that involves printmaking, animation, music or the best case scenario – all three! So for my final project, I decided to make an animated music video using prints made with carved tetra paks, for a song I wrote called Mediocre.

The song talks about the feelings of being mediocre despite constant attempts not to be, and feeling sad because of it. The music video features a girl and a bird as the main characters.

Combining the printmaking and animation processes allowed me to experiment with movement using textures made with printmaking, and the music gave it a new meaning and context.

Alongside this project, I also experimented with other types of printmaking for making animations, like screen printing and wood cut relief printing, also within the music context. I am encouraged to continue working in this style and hope to make artwork for musicians and make music for my personal artwork!

I would like to learn more about printmaking and its techniques and hope to find work as a technician/demonstrator in a print room in the UK, while also continuing to experiment with animation. I would also like to freelance and find illustration opportunities, especially with local musicians and bands.
