Oleksandra Hudkova is an illustrator based in West Sussex, specialising in narrative illustration. She likes to explore snapshots of human existence like dreams, memories, premonitions and traumas, often in absurd or surrealist ways. She's interested in heritage, history, nature preservation and family relationships, which she explores in her picture books.

With degrees in publishing and illustration, Oleksandra's participated in many student collaborations during her studies as well as illustrated a book, How the Duffle Monster Lost His Coat by Dee Hughes, published with The Story Works charity in 2025. She predominantly works in children’s publishing, creating her own and illustrating others’ picture books. Outside of illustration, Oleksandra's involved in public art projects, constructing entertaining narratives to bring the character of a place to life.

Oleksandra creates most of her work using traditional multimedia techniques, layering watercolour, gouache, coloured pencils and pastels, which allows her to achieve expressive, textured illustrations. She also works in Adobe Photoshop to edit her pieces, as well as Procreate for faster and more web-oriented projects.

I am planning to work as a freelance illustrator, mostly in children's publishing.
