Naomi Longworth

I am an illustrator based in the New Forest who explores the theme of nature within detailed, decorative illustrations and pattern designs. I am heavily inspired by where I live, and my work often reflects the places I have visited and the local flora and animals I encounter there, in particular places such as Lyndhurst, Hythe, Bealieu and Exbury Gardens. While the majority of my work is created digitally, I also like to explore a mix of digital, pencil and ink to create interesting textures and hand-drawn details. When it comes to creating specific outcomes within my work, I often create posters, postcards and stickers, but I also venture into developing booklets and more obscure products such as scarfs and patterns for clothing or accessories.

Travelling also informs a large part of my practice as I am heavily inspired by places I visit, such as Vienna, Amsterdam, Kraków and Cyprus. I find myself incorporating the stunning architecture and culture with the local nature I encounter to create illustrations with a blend of history, culture and nature. I hope when viewing my work, the audience appreciates the beauty I try to capture and enjoys my detailed line work that I aim to achieve.

Plans after degree

After my degree, I plan to connect more with the local art community within the New Forest, of which I have already had the pleasure of interviewing local artists as part of my Master's, to introduce/sell my work in local museums and gift shops.

I also plan to expand upon my website, socials and digital/printed portfolio to help create new opportunities for my work. I also have an interest in teaching and plan to dedicate some of time in the future to working within art communities and possibly completing a QTE or PGCert to teach within schools, colleges or universities.
