In my final year studying BA (Hons) Costume, I have specialised in supervision and millinery.
In the first term, I was Costume Supervisor for A Christmas Carol. This was a touring production and proved a challenge – the quick turnaround and touring aspect really tested my skills as a Supervisor. It was a trial by fire!
In the second term, I was Assistant Costume Supervisor for Moonfleet, and Milliner for Moonfleet and La Traviata. I continued to develop my skills as a supervisor, this time for an in-house AUB production that had made costumes. Working with the Moonfleet team was the highlight of the year and showed me that I made the right choice specialising in supervision. I really enjoy working with other people towards a joint goal and seeing a production come together from the very beginning to the end is really amazing.
I also had the opportunity to learn and develop my skills as a milliner. I made a variety of different hats and fixed the rest of the hats for Moonfleet – there wasn’t a single hat on that production that I hadn’t worked on! At the beginning of the term, I was reluctant to call myself a milliner, as I felt I didn’t have the skills to back up the name. Now I feel confident enough to call myself a milliner. A beginner one, but a milliner nonetheless!
Have a look at the hats I have made and the shows I have supervised!
Plans after degree
