My name is Mia Moore and I am a fashion and portrait photographer whose work is driven by creativity, storytelling and experimentation. I enjoy exploring how styling, lighting, colour and movement can be used to create visually striking images that capture individuality and expression.

This image is one of my favourite pieces because it brings together many of the elements I am most drawn to within my work. The close framing allows the viewer to focus on the subject's expression, styling and movement, creating a portrait that feels both bold and intimate.

The movement of the hair is central to the image. While it creates a strong visual impact, it also represents something deeper for me. Movement reflects the idea that life is constantly evolving and moving forward, even during periods of uncertainty. There is a sense of tension within the image, balancing vulnerability with confidence and capturing the feeling of stepping forward despite fear. Although the image appears energetic and slightly chaotic, there is also strength and control within that movement.

As a black woman, I am particularly interested in how hair and styling can be used as tools for self-expression within fashion and portrait photography. Combined with the subject's presence and styling, the movement within the image creates a sense of individuality, confidence and power.

Through my photography, I aim to create images that are visually engaging while leaving space for personal interpretation, allowing viewers to form their own connection with the work.

I'm exploring different roles and career pathways where I can use the skills I've developed through my degree, particularly those that align with my interests.
