Hi, I’m Mia, an entrepreneurial artist who loves to talk to others. I enjoy working in gallery and community settings where I can get to know other artists and share experiences together. One of the community settings I enjoy participating in are art markets; I sell my handmade items, stickers and art prints frequently in the Bournemouth and Surrey area. I hope to start an online business soon to share my work more worldwide. Connecting with others and sharing art together is something that brings me joy; it makes me feel motivated to continue my creative journey and I often trade with the other vendors around these events to initiate future relationships.
My illustrative gallery work revolves around self-portraiture and preserving memory. This is something I feel is important to me as I enjoy reminiscing and feeling my emotions through art. Illustrating and creating guided me through my emotions and enables me to have a positive output on difficult moments, or even happy ones.
This double triptych, Panoramic Views, depicts a colourful retelling of viewpoints I visited just this year. It follows a pink character, me, walking through and taking in the views of Old Harry Rocks, Edinburgh Castle and Stonehenge. The pieces use a three-colour palette with the essence of risography, and uses white negative space to allow the double triptych to breathe and flow through the panoramic span.
Plans after degree
After graduating and moving from Bournemouth to Surrey, I will continue my art market endeavours and find a community there like I did here. I will also set up an online business and shop where I can sell my work and reach new audiences.
