My Final Major Project, Urban Naturalisation, is an interiors collection designed to give capsule hotels a luxury feel. 

This project explores how man-made structures have disrupted nature and wildlife and the resulting industrialisation of natural habitats. My main influences are a combination of winter blooming plants and brutalist architecture, with traces of London wildlife. Some key imagery has come from Alexandra Road Park, The Barbican, Isabella Plantation and Kew Gardens. This collection is made up of predominantly screenprinted samples of fabrics and wallpapers, alongside supporting digital prints, stitch and tufting.

A key process in the aesthetic of this collection was screen printing with dyes to add depth and an inky appearance to samples that I physically printed, making them match the style of my initial drawings that I used for digital prints. When sourcing materials for this project, I had a focus on collecting natural fabrics to keep the collection sustainable – this is what allowed me to use the dyes to print in this style. This collection delves into the idea of what the cities would look like if plants could thrive and overtake a decaying city. The visual direction of this project has gone towards the textures of brutalism, with imagery of winter plants growing unobstructed over them.

Screenprinting has been a long-term goal for my career as I have been most interested in that specialism throughout my degree. My ideal role that I would like to achieve is working as a printer in a small screenprinting studio, as part of a small team that works closely with each other.
