Maria Jaroszewicz is a multidisciplinary fine art student whose practice explores transformation, material agency, memory, consciousness and the unseen forces that shape emotional and spiritual experience. Working across sculpture, installation, sound, painting, photography and process-led experimentation, she often uses natural or unstable materials such as water, earth, crystals, sand, wax, plaster and light-reflective substances. Her work is rooted in a dialogue between control and surrender, allowing materials to guide the final form. Influenced by ecofeminism, spirituality, elemental processes and ideas of interconnectedness, the artist’s practice investigates the relationship between inner landscapes and the wider universe.

Inobservatum is an immersive installation that brings together sculpture, crystal growth, earth-based materials and sound to explore consciousness, memory and identity. The work was developed through an intuitive, process-led method in which she allowed materials to determine their own arrangement, forming a landscape of small sculptural “islands” across the floor. Sand, glitter, artificial snow, crystals and cast forms create an environment that feels both geological and cosmic, suggesting a place between the microscopic and the planetary, the internal and the universal.

The title, meaning “unobserved” or “that which has not been seen,” points towards hidden aspects of the self – subconscious memory, emotional residue, invisible transformation and states of being that exist beyond ordinary perception. The accompanying soundscape, made from the artist’s altered voice, extends the work into a meditative and slightly unsettling atmosphere. Through its fragile, shifting materials, Inobservatum becomes a contemplative space where matter, memory and consciousness appear to merge.

After my degree, I plan to continue building my artistic practice through exhibitions, collective projects and regular crit meetings. I am an active member of several art collectives, and I intend to keep exhibiting with these groups while developing new work. 

I am also focusing on learning to drive, as this will give me more independence and help me explore possible MA Fine Art courses at nearby universities.
