Throughout my time at AUB, I have developed my love and skills within costume design for both film and theatre. I love challenging myself and going outside my comfort zone within my design work by adapting to many different genres and design aesthetics ranging from fantasy, gothic, contemporary, etc. Finding a balance between adapting my work to the style of each production, whilst bringing my own touch such as honing in on finer details, bringing in both characteristics and reflecting themes of the show or film.

In my Final Major Project I had the privilege of working on two graduation films, Crocodile Tears and By Her Wounds, where not only my design skills developed, but I was able to collaborate closely with large crews across different courses learning the importance of communication, whilst also learning key pre-production and on-set skills that will translate into entry trainee roles within the industry.

After pitching my designs in my Production Practice unit to our external director, I was selected to have the opportunity to be the Costume Designer for AUB’s spring production of Jekyll and Hyde, which has taught me significantly about the process, from designing a costume to the translation through both making and sourcing. This benefitted future design projects such as my personal project, where I created costume designs and concepts for a hypothetical live action adaptation of Disney’s Princess and the Frog, where my knowledge of the making process fed into my hypothetical design choices, such as fabric selection and structural elements.

I am incredibly grateful for each and every opportunity I have had within my projects and honoured to have worked alongside such incredible and talented teams and crews. I can’t wait to apply everything I have learnt within the industry!

I hope to soon be working within the industry pursuing my passion of costume design, likely in a trainee role within film or theatre.
